Run Forrest Run.
Today is one of those bitter sweet days. I knew one day soon my status would change from homeless to having a place to call home again. Tomorrow is that day. With that in mind, I decided to do things a little differently for my last night out on this adventure.
I decided to simply walk, enjoy the night, and reflect back on the past couple of weeks. I parked my jeep and started walking around 9:30PM. By midnight I found myself at the intersection of Powers and Highway 83. Apparently this section of Powers, at this time of night, is a test bed for opening up the throttle on one’s motorcycle. I saw a number of bikes that had to be doing 90 miles an hour. By about 1:30AM I came upon a school that seemed to be a good place to take a little rest. I found one of those permanent medal picnic tables and laid down on it. Correct, I didn’t get much, if any, sleep. By 3:30AM I decided it was time to start walking again. I made it back to my jeep by 6:00AM. In total, I covered a little over 17.5 miles.
I’ve had a lot of fun taking the time to step out of my comfort zone and do this. I’ve experienced things that will be long lasting memories. I’ve learned some things that I will be incorporating back into my normal life. And I’ve been reinforced with the idea that one doesn’t need a lot to have fun and be happy.
